The Stemberger family - organic farmers since 1995

Second generation of organic farmers
Our farm has been family-owned for over 150 years. To ensure that everything runs smoothly, several generations work together hand in hand. Together we run our family farm located in St. Veit, in East Tyrol, where 3 generations live under one roof. We, Bernhard & Isabella Stemberger, are the managers of the farm and unite the house, animals, vacation apartment, stable, pastures and alpine pastures as well.
It all began with breeding cattle, which Chrysanth and Margit Stemberger, Bernhard's parents, built up and ran with heart and soul. We’ve been welcoming guests to our farm since 1970 and since December 2022, we can offer our guests three brand new vacation apartments. You can find out everything you need to know here: "Your vacation". The "Rauterlishof", as our organic farm is called, was certified as organic back in 1995. In March 2009 we, Isabella and Bernhard, officially took over the farm as organic farmers.
Chrysanth and Margit are still an important part of our team and help wherever they can. Their skills, knowledge and passion keep the alpine pasture farming culture alive. Cattle breeding still forms the basis of our organic farming today. Over the years, however, a lot has changed and other mainstays have been added.

The organic farm
Managing our farm sustainably is important to us. We have taken on a legacy that needs to be preserved and should be left beautiful and worth living in for our children and their children as well. We put our heart and soul into the welfare of our animals every day, so that they want for nothing on our farm. Short transportation routes for raw materials, processing directly on the farm and direct marketing from the farm guarantee the highest quality organic products.
In addition to breeding cattle, we also run our own small dairy. This gives us the opportunity to process the milk directly on the farm. This results in fresh dairy products such as organic cheese, butter, yoghurt, etc.
These items can be purchased in our farm store 7 days a week. The small store is another mainstay of our organic farm. Here you buy not only our products, but also a curated selection of high-quality delicacies such as fresh meat and sausages, fruit spreads, Schlipfkrapfen, dumplings, fresh bread, honey and much more directly from regional sources.
Our organic eggs are well known in the region and are available throughout Eastern Tyrol. A total of 1250 chickens provide fresh eggs every day. The doors of our modern chicken coops are time-controlled, so you can watch our winged ladies "swarm out" at the same time every day.
